Introduction of Mobile Passport Service

On July 15, a new mobile passport service was inaugurated for the northeastern region by Dr. KJ Srinivasa, the Joint Secretary for the Passport Seva Project and Chief Passport Officer from the Ministry of External Affairs, at Gauhati University.

This mobile service aims to reach remote and rural areas, allowing residents to conveniently submit their passport applications, thus enhancing the accessibility of passport-related services.

Currently, there are six passport seva kendras and 19 post office passport seva kendras operating under the Regional Passport Office in Guwahati, serving six northeastern states.

Dr. Srinivasa emphasized that the mobile van serves as a comprehensive solution for applicants to complete their application submissions.

He mentioned that each of the 37 Regional Passport Offices across the nation has been allocated one mobile van, with the potential to increase this number in the future.

This initiative highlights the Ministry of External Affairs' dedication to improving the accessibility, efficiency, and user-friendliness of passport services. The launch event was attended by senior officials from RPO Guwahati, TCS, and Gauhati University.

During his visit, Dr. Srinivasa engaged with various stakeholders involved in passport services, including Assam's DGP Harmeet Singh and ADGP Hiren Chandra Nath, as well as CPMG Col Arvind Varma.

He also conducted an inspection of the RPO and PSK in Guwahati, commending the commitment and hard work of the officials from both the Ministry and TCS, urging them to uphold high standards of efficiency, transparency, and integrity.

Additionally, Dr. Srinivasa met with Governor Laxman Acharya and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, updating them on the effective passport issuance and delivery systems of the Ministry. Both leaders expressed their appreciation for the timely delivery of citizen services.
