Landslide Incident on Rudraprayag-Badrinath Route

Recent heavy rainfall has caused a landslide on the Rudraprayag-Badrinath route, prompting immediate restoration efforts. A passenger named Dilpreet, who was en route to Rishikesh, reported being stranded for four hours due to the landslide. He stated, "We were heading to Rishikesh when the landslide occurred... we've been stuck here for the last four hours... debris and stones have fallen... cranes have arrived to clear the path...".


On July 8, a cloudburst was recorded near Mukh village, close to Nandprayag Ghat in the Chamoli district, according to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties, and an SDRF team has been dispatched to evaluate the situation.


Additionally, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand over the next four days. Earlier, the Kedarnath Dham Yatra in the Rudraprayag district was temporarily suspended after a landslide compromised the pedestrian path near Chhodi Gadhere, located about one kilometer from Gaurikund.
