Lalu Prasad Yadav Urges Voter Unity Against BJP in Bihar
RJD Chief Calls for Action Against BJP
On Sunday, Lalu Prasad Yadav, the leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and former Chief Minister of Bihar, urged the public to remove the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from power. He accused the BJP of electoral fraud and undermining democratic values, labeling them as 'thieves.'
During the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in Sasaram, Bihar, Yadav stated, 'Choro ko hataiye, BJP ko bhagaiye, aur hume jitaiye,' which translates to 'Remove the thieves, make the BJP flee, and help us win.' He called on Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge to join forces with the RJD and his son Tejashwi Yadav to 'uproot the BJP.'
'We must not allow the BJP, which he claims is a thief, to regain power. Everyone must unite. Together, Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, we will remove them and protect democracy,' Yadav emphasized. The Congress party is currently conducting a 16-day 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' to protest against alleged vote theft, which they claim has been facilitated by the Election Commission and the BJP.
The yatra commenced in Sasaram, featuring participation from various leaders, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and others. Rahul Gandhi, addressing the rally, pledged to expose any vote theft, whether it occurs in Bihar, Maharashtra, or elsewhere.
'The entire nation is aware of the Election Commission's actions. Previously, the public was unaware of how votes were being stolen. We have clarified in press conferences how this is happening. Whenever theft occurs, whether in Bihar, Maharashtra, Assam, or Bengal, we will identify the culprits and inform the public,' Gandhi stated.
He criticized Bihar's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) as a 'conspiracy' by the Election Commission, asserting that 'vote theft has been revealed' and that the Opposition will combat alleged electoral manipulation. The Election Commission responded by stating that any concerns regarding electoral roll inaccuracies should be addressed during the 'Claims and Objections' period. They emphasized that sharing the electoral roll with all political entities ensures transparency and allows for timely concerns to be raised.
The Commission also pointed out that political parties and their representatives often neglect to review the electoral rolls when necessary. Tejashwi Yadav accused the Election Commission and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of misleading the people of Bihar regarding the voter list.
'Narendra Modi is determined to ruin the lives of Bihar's youth. He manipulates the uneducated for political gain. In contrast, we focus on empowering everyone through work. This is why we are here today. The Election Commission and Modi aim to deceive the people of Bihar. Do not underestimate Biharis,' Yadav asserted, recalling the words of socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia, who advocated for the voting rights of the marginalized.
Yadav concluded, 'Lalu and Lohia have always maintained that 'the rule of votes signifies the rule of the underprivileged.' Our Constitution, as established by Babasaheb Ambedkar, grants us this right and empowers us to vote. Regardless of wealth or status, every individual has the right to cast one vote, as enshrined in the Constitution.'
