Meeting Between Ladakh's Lieutenant Governor and Prime Minister

Ladakh's Lieutenant Governor, Kavinder Gupta, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday in the capital. The discussions focused on various topics including public welfare, key developmental priorities, infrastructure, connectivity, tourism, and inclusive growth. An official post from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on X stated, "Ladakh's Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta had a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The official handle of the Union Territory of Ladakh also shared on X, highlighting that the Lieutenant Governor discussed public welfare, major developmental priorities, infrastructure, connectivity, tourism, and inclusive development during the meeting."


Previous Meetings and Administrative Priorities

Earlier, on December 30, Ashish Kundra, the newly appointed Chief Secretary of Ladakh, paid a courtesy visit to Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta at the LG Secretariat in Leh. During their meeting, they discussed key administrative priorities and governance issues in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The Lieutenant Governor congratulated IAS officer Ashish Kundra on his new role and expressed confidence in his ability to strengthen efficient administration in Ladakh.


Discussions on Financial Needs and Infrastructure

On December 17, Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta met with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi to discuss Ladakh's development priorities, financial requirements, and measures to enhance infrastructure for inclusive growth. According to an official statement, the Governor informed the Finance Minister about the efforts being made in Ladakh to strengthen infrastructure, expedite development projects, and ensure inclusive growth across the region.


Request for Increased Budgetary Support

The statement noted that the Governor mentioned, "The Union Territory administration has established effective systems, strengthened institutional capacity, and streamlined project implementation mechanisms to ensure timely and efficient use of funds." Governor Gupta also requested an increase in budgetary support to maintain the momentum of development and address emerging needs.
