Kynan Chenai Looks Forward to Asian Games 2026 Amid Weather Challenges

Anticipation for the Asian Games

Kynan Chenai, an Indian trap shooter, is filled with excitement as he prepares for the upcoming Asian Games 2026, set to take place in Aichi-Nagoya from September 19 to October 4. He views this event as a thrilling challenge, particularly with the shooting events being held outdoors. Chenai acknowledges that the weather may pose difficulties for competitors but remains optimistic about adapting to the conditions and enjoying the overall experience. He stated, "I’m really looking forward to it. The Asian Games are going to be interesting this time. We’re expecting some weather as well, but since we shoot outdoors, we’ll have to manage those conditions. Other than that, I think it should be straightforward and, hopefully, a lot of fun."

Confidence in India's Shooting Team

Chenai expressed his strong belief in the capabilities of India's rifle and pistol team, confident that they will excel at the Asian Games. He commended the high caliber of the shooters and expressed eagerness to see them perform on such a significant platform. "Our rifle and pistol squad is ranked No. 1 in the world, and I’m backing all our shooters to deliver. They’re incredibly skilled, and I’m genuinely excited to watch them compete. I can only imagine how everyone else feels about seeing them in action," he remarked.

Cherishing Memories of Jaspal Rana

Reflecting on his relationship with the late Jaspal Rana, a celebrated shooter and Padma Shri awardee, Chenai shared that their bond extended beyond the shooting range. He fondly recalled Rana's guidance, humor, and companionship during their travels, describing their friendship as joyful and filled with unforgettable moments. "Jaspal and I shared a relationship outside the range that not many people know about. Whenever he got tired of the pistol ranges, he would wander down to the shotgun ranges at Karni Singh, where my car was often parked, and I’d be standing outside. He would come over, give me some advice or gyaan, and tell me, ‘Boss, you’ve got to be like this; you’ve got to approach the game like this,’" Chenai reminisced. He concluded, "I had some great times with Jaspal away from the shooting range too—sharing laughs, jokes, and memories during our travels around the world. Those are memories I’ll always cherish and keep very close to my heart."
