Devastating Attack on Kyiv

In a harrowing incident early Monday, Russia unleashed a barrage of missiles and drones on Kyiv, resulting in the deaths of at least 10 individuals, as reported by local authorities. This assault occurred shortly after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy cautioned that a significant attack was on the horizon.

Emergency services reported that 46 others sustained injuries while they searched through the debris of residential high-rises that were directly struck.

Tymur Tkachenko, the head of Kyiv's City Military Administration, emphasized the tragedy of the situation, stating, "These are residential buildings. Places where people slept and lived their ordinary lives."

One building in the Podilskyi district suffered partial collapse, while in the Darnytsia district, multiple high-rise structures were damaged, with fears that individuals might be trapped beneath the rubble.

The assault featured a combination of ballistic and cruise missiles, alongside drones, causing explosions that reverberated throughout the city as civilians sought refuge in metro stations.

Earlier, President Zelenskyy had alerted the public about the potential for another large-scale Russian offensive. This latest attack follows a previous incident that resulted in at least 31 fatalities in Kyiv just days prior.

In a late Sunday Telegram post, Zelenskyy reiterated his appeal for increased support from Western allies to enhance Ukraine's air defense systems, particularly requesting additional Patriot missiles. He warned that a lack of reinforcements would only encourage Russia to extend its ongoing conflict.
