Kuwait did not provide further details but confirmed that the attack inflicted "material damage to some components of the plant."

Desalination is crucial for the Gulf Arab nations and Iran, converting the salty waters of the Persian Gulf into potable water for the arid region.

In Kuwait, approximately 90% of the drinking water supply is sourced from desalination.

These facilities have increasingly become targets in the ongoing conflict, with Iran initially blaming the US and Israel for attacks on such plants before shifting focus to Gulf Arab states.
