Kush Maini Enhances India's Formula One Presence with Successful Test
Kush Maini's Formula 1 Test Experience
The Indian Government is actively seeking ways to bring Formula One back to India, and in this context, Kush Maini, the country's only representative in global Formula racing, is making significant strides. Recently, the 25-year-old driver completed his inaugural official Formula 1 test for the 2026 season with the BWT Alpine F1 Team at the renowned Circuit Zandvoort.
Insights from the Alpine F1 Test
During a two-day, private testing session, Maini demonstrated the team's ongoing confidence in his abilities. He drove the Alpine A521 as part of the Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) program, successfully completing 193 laps, which amounts to a total distance of 822 kilometers. Retaining his position as Test and Reserve Driver for the 2026 season, this test marks the first of multiple planned appearances in Formula 1 this year.
Looking Ahead to the F2 Season
After the test, Maini expressed his excitement, stating, "It's fantastic to be back in an F1 car after a break from the Formula 2 season. I'm extremely thankful to Alpine for this chance. Driving an F1 car is a tremendous confidence booster, and I aim to carry this momentum into Miami as we kick off the F2 season again."
Maini is now set to refocus on the FIA Formula 2 Championship, which is set to resume next weekend in Miami. With the invaluable experience gained from his time in Formula 1, the Indian driver is poised to continue his ascent on the international racing scene, coinciding with India's renewed aspirations to return to the Formula One calendar. His progress further bolsters the argument for the sport's revival in the country.
