Supreme Court Halts Release of Kuldeep Sengar
On Monday, the daughter of Kuldeep Sengar, convicted in the 2017 Unnao rape case, took to social media to demand justice following the Supreme Court's intervention to suspend a Delhi High Court ruling that had temporarily lifted his life sentence. A three-member vacation bench, led by Chief Justice N.V. Ramana, along with Justices J.K. Maheshwari and Augustine George Masih, issued a stay on the High Court's order, which had stated that Sengar was already incarcerated for another offense. The court clarified that the implementation of the High Court's decision is on hold, ensuring Sengar remains in prison.

In her post, Sengar's daughter suggested that the Supreme Court's decision was influenced by public outrage, describing her family as powerless for the past eight years. She expressed her feelings as a daughter who is exhausted, fearful, and gradually losing faith, yet still clinging to hope, as there seems to be no other avenue left. For eight years, she and her family have waited patiently, believing that if they followed the 'right path,' the truth would eventually emerge. They placed their trust in the law and the Constitution, convinced that justice in this country does not rely on noise, hashtags, or public anger.
Moreover, she alleged that she has faced threats of rape and death, which ultimately silenced her, despite her faith in institutions. She stated, 'I am writing today because my faith is crumbling. Before my words are heard, my identity is reduced to a label - 'daughter of a BJP legislator.' As if that erases my humanity. It seems that just this fact strips me of fairness, respect, or the right to speak. Those who have never met me, read a single document, or reviewed any court records have decided that my life holds no value.'

She further mentioned that over the years, she has been told countless times on social media that she deserves to be raped, killed, or punished merely for existing. This hatred is not imaginary; it is a daily reality. When one realizes that so many people believe they are not even worthy of living, it breaks you from within.
