KTR Criticizes Congress for Telangana's Economic Decline

KTR's Strong Critique of Congress Government

K.T. Rama Rao, the executive president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), launched a fierce attack on the Congress government on Saturday, blaming it for the declining revenue growth in Telangana and accusing it of ruining the state's economy. In a post on X, he referenced data from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), highlighting that Telangana's revenue increased by 220% from ₹49,779 crore in 2014 to ₹1,59,349 crore in 2023. However, he noted that this growth is projected to drop to -1.18% in 2024-25, with revenue for the first seven months of 2025-26 standing at ₹94,555 crore.

Allegations Against Congress

Rama Rao accused the Congress party of devastating Telangana, stating that the state, which once led in revenue growth under BRS governance, is now heading in a negative direction. According to CAG data, the revenue growth from 2014 to 2023 was significant, but the forecast for 2024-25 shows a concerning decline. He emphasized that without the efforts of K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), Telangana would not exist today.

KTR also criticized the Congress for being the permanent villain in Telangana's narrative, claiming they betrayed the people of the state. He recalled the sacrifices made by the people of Telangana and the injustices faced during six decades of Congress rule. In a symbolic gesture, he announced that a statue of Telangana Talli would replace the statue of Rajiv Gandhi at the entrance of the BRS secretariat, representing the restoration of Telangana's pride. He stated that the struggle for Telangana is not just a part of history but an identity that must be defended daily.
