KT Rama Rao's Criticism of Congress Government

KT Rama Rao (KTR), the executive president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), criticized the Congress-led government in Telangana on Friday, alleging that it has unlawfully seized 50 acres of land belonging to Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU). His remarks came after a meeting with MANUU students at a residence in Nandi Nagar, Banjara Hills, where the students expressed their concerns.

The students conveyed to KTR their strong opposition to the government's move to reclaim land previously allocated to the university, warning that such actions could severely impact the institution's future growth and academic development. Addressing the media after the meeting, KTR accused the Congress government of systematically targeting university lands across the state and behaving like a "land grabber."

KTR emphasized that MANUU, the only specialized Urdu university in the country and a pride of Hyderabad, is being deliberately undermined for real estate interests. He alleged that the Congress party aims to exploit a prestigious educational institution for its property-related needs. He also mentioned previous attempts to acquire land from an agricultural university under the guise of the High Court and alleged efforts to seize nearly 400 acres of land from Hyderabad Central University (HCU).

KTR claimed that despite the Supreme Court's temporary stay on the HCU land issue and comments regarding a ₹10,000 crore land scam, neither the central nor the state government has initiated a proper investigation. He stated that if the central government had taken decisive action earlier, the state government would not have dared to target another central university like MANUU. KTR assured that the BRS would stand firmly with MANUU students and would take the matter to Delhi, raising it in Parliament, including the Rajya Sabha, if necessary. He promised that a future BRS government would allocate sufficient funds for the university's expansion and infrastructure.
