Kotak Addresses Gambhir-Kohli Relationship Amid ODI Series

In a recent press conference, India's batting coach Sitanshu Kotak dismissed rumors of a rift between head coach Gautam Gambhir and star batsman Virat Kohli, asserting that they communicate regularly. This statement came after India's defeat to England in the second ODI, where Joe Root's unbeaten 99 led England to victory, leveling the series 1-1. Despite solid performances from Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, India struggled to set a competitive total. The series will conclude with the final ODI at Lord's on July 19, raising anticipation among cricket fans.

Kotak Refutes Gambhir-Kohli Rift Speculations

Sitanshu Kotak, the batting coach for India, has dismissed rumors suggesting he acts as a mediator between head coach Gautam Gambhir and star batsman Virat Kohli. He emphasized that the two communicate frequently and do not require an intermediary. During a press conference following India's four-wicket loss to England in the second ODI, Kotak clarified that his conversations with Kohli were strictly focused on batting techniques.

Clarification on Communication

When questioned about his interactions with Kohli after the player's net session, Kotak stated, "No, Virat and Gautam have probably talked 10-12 times today itself. I don't think they need any bridge." He noted that Kohli approached him to discuss specific batting elements, and he refrains from offering technical advice unless requested by the experienced player.

Kohli's Focus on Batting

Kotak explained that Kohli often discusses his footwork and other aspects before batting. He believes that unless something is significantly amiss, it is best not to interfere with Kohli's batting style. "Virat, basically, before going to bat, talked about certain things because, honestly, as a batting coach, one shouldn't disturb his batting much unless something catches the eye," he added.

England Equalizes Series in Cardiff

In the match itself, England managed to level the three-match ODI series 1-1 by defeating India at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.
