Reconstruction of Crime Scene in Kolkata

 In a significant development regarding the ongoing investigation into the alleged gang rape of a 24-year-old law student, Kolkata police executed a detailed reconstruction of the crime scene at South Kolkata Law College on Friday. All four arrested suspects were present during this process. The police team arrived at the college premises around 4:30 AM, accompanied by the three main accused: former student and contractual employee Monojit Mishra, current students Pramit Mukherjee and Jaib Ahmed, along with college security guard Pinaki Banerjee. The reconstruction lasted approximately four hours and concluded by mid-morning. A senior officer stated that this reconstruction is a crucial aspect of our investigation. The findings from the scene will now be cross-checked with the victim's complaint and other evidence collected so far.

According to the FIR, the victim, a first-year law student, was allegedly raped by Monojit Mishra with the assistance of two other students on the evening of June 25. The incident reportedly lasted over three hours and occurred at multiple locations within the college, including the guard's room. Security guard Pinaki Banerjee has been accused of negligence for failing to intervene during the incident. His police custody is set to end on July 4, after which he will be presented in court.

Police officials have confirmed that both the medical examination report and circumstantial evidence corroborate the victim's statement. The investigation is currently being led by the Kolkata Police's detective department.
