KKR Raises Concerns Over IPL Rule Changes
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have expressed their concerns regarding the recent decision by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to alter the conditions of play during the IPL. KKR's CEO, Venky Mysore, revealed that he has sent a letter to IPL COO Hemang Amin, contesting the board's decision to extend the time allowed to complete a full match from 60 minutes to 120 minutes.
Mysore cited the rain-affected match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on May 17 as a significant reason for his objection, as it severely impacted their chances of reaching the playoffs. He believes that the additional 120 minutes that night could have allowed for at least five overs to be played, potentially changing the outcome.
BCCI Modifies Rules
This change coincided with the IPL's resumption after a week-long suspension due to the India-Pakistan conflict. On Tuesday, the BCCI announced that an extra hour would be allocated for the remaining league matches, considering the impact of the monsoon in certain regions. This decision is aimed at ensuring the playoffs can proceed smoothly.
The BCCI has designated the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to host the final. This venue will also be responsible for the Qualifier 2 playoff match. Additionally, the Punjab Kings' home ground in Mohali will host the first Qualifier and the Eliminator match.
