KL Rahul's Historic Achievement

Indian cricketer KL Rahul has made a remarkable mark in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by becoming the first player to accumulate over 1,000 runs for three different franchises. He reached this milestone during a match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), scoring 23 runs off 14 balls, which included four boundaries and a strike rate exceeding 164.


Rahul's Record with Delhi Capitals

KL Rahul is now the 11th player to score 1,000 runs for Delhi Capitals (DC), amassing a total of 1,007 runs in just 24 innings. His average stands at 50.35, with a strike rate of 162.41, featuring two centuries and six fifties, and a personal best of 152*. His 24 innings are the fastest to reach the 1,000-run mark for DC, surpassing the previous record of 35 innings held by JP Duminy and Rishabh Pant.


This season, KL leads the run charts for DC and ranks third overall with 468 runs in 11 innings, averaging 46.80 and boasting a strike rate of 180, which includes one century and three fifties, with a top score of 152*.


Consistent Performer Across Teams

Prior to this, KL Rahul had also crossed the 1,000-run threshold for Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He is the top scorer for PBKS, having scored 2,548 runs in 55 matches at an impressive average of 56.62 and a strike rate of 139.76, including two centuries and 23 fifties.


For LSG, he ranks as the second-highest run-scorer with 1,410 runs in 38 matches, averaging 41.47 and a strike rate of 130.67, which includes two centuries and 10 fifties.


KL has also played for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), but did not reach the 1,000-run mark with them, scoring 308 runs in 20 matches for SRH and 417 runs in 19 matches for RCB.


Match Recap: KKR vs DC

In the match itself, KKR won the toss and chose to field first. A partnership of 49 runs between Pathum Nissanka, who scored 50 runs off 29 balls with five fours and three sixes, and KL Rahul was pivotal. However, DC struggled, collapsing to 89/5, with Anukul Roy taking 2 wickets for 31 runs in four overs.


The KKR spinners, Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine, applied pressure during the middle overs, while Kartik Tyagi claimed two important wickets for just 25 runs. Ashutosh Sharma contributed with 39 runs off 28 balls, helping DC reach a total of 142/8 in their 20 overs.
