KKR's Shane Watson Discusses Angkrish Raghuvanshi's Injury During MI Match
Raghuvanshi's Injury Explained
During a recent match at Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Assistant Coach Shane Watson provided insights into Angkrish Raghuvanshi's absence while chasing a target against Mumbai Indians (MI). KKR successfully chased down a challenging target of 148 runs in 18.5 overs, winning by four wickets. However, Raghuvanshi, who has been KKR's top run-scorer this season, was unable to bat due to neck pain. The injury occurred when he collided with teammate Varun Chakaravarthy while attempting to catch a high ball from Tilak Varma during the 11th over of MI's innings.
Details on Raghuvanshi's Condition
In the post-match press conference, Watson elaborated on Raghuvanshi's condition, stating, "Unfortunately, Ankrish ran a considerable distance to try and secure that catch. The collision with Varun Chakravarthy resulted in neck pain, dizziness, and a headache shortly after. He was eager to contribute, and his absence was felt in the batting lineup."
Varun Chakravarthy's Recovery Status
Watson also touched on Varun Chakravarthy's rehabilitation, noting, "I am not fully aware of his current rehab status, but he is clearly playing through some pain. His bravery and commitment to KKR are commendable, and he continues to bowl exceptionally well. It's impressive to see his performance improve from the start of the season to now. We are fortunate to have his skills on our team." In the match, Chakravarthy bowled four overs, conceding only 28 runs but did not take any wickets, bringing his season total to 10 wickets.
