Kiren Rijiju Welcomes Shiromani Akali Dal's Shift on Women's Reservation and Delimitation Bills
Kiren Rijiju's Response to Shiromani Akali Dal's New Stance
New Delhi, August 8 - Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju expressed his approval of the Shiromani Akali Dal's (SAD) recent change in position regarding the constitutional amendment bills related to women's reservation and delimitation. Rijiju emphasized the need for all political parties to unite in empowering women through fair and equal delimitation of seats.
This statement from Rijiju came after SAD urged Parliament to promptly pass the bills concerning women's reservation and delimitation, aiming for their immediate implementation without further delays. The party's shift on delimitation surfaced following a meeting between SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which has sparked speculation about a potential reconciliation with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In a post on 'X', Rijiju stated, “I wholeheartedly welcome this significant decision made by the Shiromani Akali Dal, following the example set by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.” He added, “We must come together to empower women through fair and equal delimitation, ensuring they receive equal representation.”
