Funeral Arrangements for Khaleda Zia

Dhaka: The funeral service for Khaleda Zia, the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, is scheduled for Wednesday at 2 PM, as confirmed by officials.

Her coffin will be displayed at the west end of Manik Mia Avenue, rather than the South Plaza of the Parliament, according to the Chief Advisor's Office announcement on Tuesday.

A statement released late Tuesday indicated that the funeral prayers will commence after Zuhr, around 2 PM, on Manik Mia Avenue, as reported by bdnews24.

The arrangements for the funeral will encompass the inner grounds of the Parliament, its outer areas, and the entire length of Manik Mia Avenue.

After the service, Khaleda Zia will be interred with state honors at approximately 3:30 PM, next to her husband, the late president and freedom fighter Ziaur Rahman.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced that traffic will be restricted on various roads in the capital on Wednesday due to the procession carrying Zia's body.

Khaleda Zia, a prominent leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and a three-time Prime Minister, passed away earlier in the day in Dhaka at the age of 80 after battling a prolonged illness.

Jaishankar will represent the Indian government and its citizens at the funeral, making his way to Dhaka on Wednesday, as stated in an official announcement.
