This cinematic piece is inspired by the book 'The Case That Shook The Empire', which tells the story of C Sankaran Nair's legal battle against the British Crown regarding the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. This film also marks Karan Singh Tyagi's debut as a director. Following its theatrical success, the film is now set to premiere on OTT platforms.
Fans can catch 'Kesari Chapter 2' on JioHotstar starting June 13.
In a recent announcement, JioHotstar shared, "The story you know, the truth you don’t! Witness the aftermath of Jallianwala Bagh, in #KesariChapter2 streaming June 13 on JioHotstar."
The film has received accolades from various celebrities and political figures. Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged C Sankaran Nair's contributions during a speech. Akshay Kumar shared a video of PM Modi on Instagram, expressing gratitude: "Thank you Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji for remembering the great Chettur Sankaran Nair ji and his contribution to our freedom struggle. It is crucial for us as a nation, especially the youth, to appreciate the sacrifices made by those who fought for our freedom! The cast also includes Regina Cassandra, Simon Paisley Day, Alexx O’Nell, Amit Sial, Mark Bennington, and Krish Rao.
