Kerala's Election Manifesto Highlights Welfare Initiatives
The ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala released its manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections on Thursday, outlining a blend of welfare and developmental measures aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents across the state. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan presented the manifesto, which emphasizes a commitment to eradicate extreme poverty, increase welfare pensions to ₹3,000 per month, and ensure adequate healthcare and support systems at the local level. Recently, the LDF announced that extreme poverty has been eliminated in the state and raised the welfare pension from ₹1,600 to ₹2,000.
Targeted Support for the Needy
In its current manifesto, the CPI(M)-led LDF stated its intention to identify approximately five lakh of the poorest families and assist them in overcoming poverty through targeted support.
