Release of Indian National from Yemen


New Delhi: An Indian citizen hailing from Kerala, who had been held captive by Houthi rebels in Yemen since early July, has been successfully released.


Anilkumar Raveendran was part of the crew aboard the cargo vessel MV Eternity C.


The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed its satisfaction regarding Raveendran's release, noting that he had been detained in Yemen since July 7.


According to the MEA, he arrived in Muscat yesterday and is anticipated to return to India shortly.


The ministry highlighted that the Indian government had been actively working with various stakeholders to secure his safe return.


In a brief statement, the MEA extended its gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman for its role in facilitating Anilkumar Raveendran's release.
