Shocking Case of Abuse in Kerala

Kerala Father Sentenced to 178 Years for Raping His Daughter

A disturbing case has emerged from Kerala, revealing the heinous actions of a father who has brought shame to the sacred bond between parent and child. A POCSO court in Manjeri has sentenced a 40-year-old father to an astonishing 178 years in prison for repeatedly raping his 11-year-old daughter. In addition to the lengthy prison term, Judge A.M. Ashraf imposed a fine of ₹11 lakh on the perpetrator.

The abuse occurred three times between January 2022 and January 2023, all within the confines of their home. The father threatened his daughter, warning her that he would kill her if she disclosed the abuse to anyone. The court found him guilty under severe sections of the POCSO Act, resulting in a 40-year sentence. He also received another 40-year sentence under various sections of the IPC.

Criminal History of the Accused

In addition to the current charges, the father was already serving a 20-year sentence for raping a disabled woman in October 2021 and attempting to assault her again in February 2022. He had been released on bail from that case and immediately preyed upon his own daughter.

The court also sentenced him to five years for assault and criminal intimidation, along with three years for kidnapping the child. All sentences will run concurrently, meaning he will spend a minimum of 40 years in prison. If he fails to pay the fine, he will face an additional 18 months behind bars.
