Kerala Court Sentences Father to 178 Years for Raping His Daughter
Shocking Case of Abuse in Kerala
A disturbing case has emerged from Kerala, revealing a heinous crime that has tarnished the sacred bond between a father and daughter. A POCSO court in Manjeri has sentenced a 40-year-old father to an astonishing 178 years in prison for repeatedly raping his 11-year-old daughter. In addition to the lengthy prison term, Judge A.M. Ashraf imposed a fine of ₹11 lakh on the perpetrator.
The father committed these atrocious acts three times between January 2022 and January 2023, all within the confines of their home. He even threatened his daughter, warning her that he would kill her if she disclosed the abuse to anyone. The court found him guilty under severe sections of the POCSO Act, resulting in a 40-year sentence, which was mirrored by additional charges under the Indian Penal Code.
Criminal History of the Accused
In addition to the current charges, the court sentenced him to five years for assault and criminal intimidation, along with three years for holding the child captive. All sentences will run concurrently, meaning he will serve a minimum of 40 years in prison. If he fails to pay the imposed fine, he will face an additional 18 months behind bars.
What is particularly shocking is that this individual was already serving a 20-year sentence for raping a disabled woman in October 2021 and attempting to assault her again in February 2022. He was released on bail from that case and immediately preyed upon his own daughter.
