Shocking Case of Abuse in Kerala

Kerala Court Sentences Father to 178 Years for Rape of Daughter

A disturbing case has emerged from Kerala, revealing the heinous actions of a father that have tarnished the sanctity of the parent-child relationship. A POCSO court in Manjeri has sentenced a 40-year-old man to an astonishing 178 years in prison for repeatedly raping his 11-year-old daughter. In addition to the lengthy prison term, Judge A.M. Ashraf imposed a fine of ₹11 lakh on the perpetrator.

The abuse occurred three times between January 2022 and January 2023, all within the confines of their home. The father threatened his daughter, warning her that he would kill her if she disclosed the abuse to anyone. The court found him guilty under severe sections of the POCSO Act, resulting in a 40-year sentence, with additional charges under the IPC also leading to a 40-year term.

Previous Convictions and Ongoing Sentences

In a shocking twist, this individual was already serving a 20-year sentence for raping a disabled woman in October 2021 and attempting to assault her again in February 2022. He had been released on bail from that case and immediately preyed upon his own daughter upon his release. Alongside the sentences for the current crimes, he received five years for assault and criminal intimidation, and three years for kidnapping, all to run concurrently. This means he will spend a minimum of 40 years in prison, with an additional 18 months if he fails to pay the imposed fine.
