Kerala Court Acquits Actor Dileep in 2017 Assault Case
Court Ruling in Dileep's Favor
A court in Kerala declared Malayalam actor Dileep innocent on Monday in connection with the 2017 assault case involving another actor. The prosecution was unable to establish his involvement in the alleged criminal conspiracy.
However, the court found six other defendants guilty of charges including criminal conspiracy, wrongful confinement, assault with intent to outrage modesty, kidnapping, attempted sexual assault, and gang rape. The verdict was delivered by Honey M. Varghese, the District and Sessions Judge of Ernakulam, at 11 AM.
Dileep's Response to the Verdict
Following the ruling, Dileep expressed gratitude to his supporters over the past nine years and claimed that the case against him stemmed from a criminal conspiracy initially pointed out by his ex-wife, actress Manju Warrier. He alleged that a senior police officer and a team fabricated a false narrative using the main accused and their associates, disseminating it through media and social platforms to tarnish his reputation and life, but ultimately failed in court.
Allegations of a False Narrative
Dileep stated that the main accused and their prison companions collaborated to create a false story against him, which was then spread by certain media personnel on social media. He emphasized that this fabricated narrative was debunked in court, asserting that the real conspiracy was directed at him. Over the past nine years, he claimed that his image and life in society had been severely damaged.
