LDF's Strong Mandate Anticipated

On Tuesday, Kerala's Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his belief that the Left Democratic Front (LDF), led by the CPI(M), will return to power with an even stronger mandate in the assembly elections scheduled for April 9. He noted that the public sentiment remains in favor of the ruling coalition. During a press conference organized by the Kannur Press Club, Vijayan shared insights from conversations with the electorate, indicating that despite being in power for a decade, the LDF continues to receive unwavering support.

Public Sentiment Favors LDF

Vijayan emphasized that discussions with local residents reveal a clear inclination towards the LDF. He stated that the United Democratic Front (UDF) has been decisively rejected by the voters. He predicted that the LDF would secure more seats compared to the previous elections in 2021 and asserted that the BJP-led NDA would not win any seats in the state.

Response to Rahul Gandhi's Criticism

In response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's allegations of collusion between the CPI(M) and the BJP, Vijayan dismissed the claims as baseless and urged Gandhi to speak with a sense of responsibility. He criticized the Congress's political strategy, referencing leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, and accused the party of actions that inadvertently benefit the BJP while attempting to counter rivals.

Accusations Against Congress

The Chief Minister also accused the Congress of not participating in protests against the BJP-led central government, asserting that issues affecting the state should be viewed as collective concerns rather than partisan matters. Regarding the sensitive issue of women's entry into the Sabarimala temple, Vijayan reiterated the need for a cautious and consultative approach, emphasizing the importance of involving scholars and social reformers in discussions related to traditions and customs.
