With over 76,000 security personnel ensuring safety, voters are lining up early to cast their ballots. The Election Commission reports a diverse voter demographic, including men, women, and transgender individuals, alongside a significant number of expatriate voters. This election will determine the fate of 883 candidates across 140 assembly seats, making it a crucial event in the state's political landscape.

Voting Begins in Kerala's Assembly Elections

Today, Kerala is celebrating its democratic spirit with great enthusiasm. The voting process for all 140 assembly seats commenced smoothly at 7 AM on Thursday. In anticipation of the extreme heat forecast, voters have been seen lining up at polling booths since early morning.
 
Senior Congress leader and opposition leader in the state assembly, V D Satheesan, arrived early with his wife and daughter to cast their votes at a polling center in the Paravur constituency. Similarly, BJP candidate R. Shilekha from the Vattiyurkavu assembly seat and Minister of Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Tourism, Suresh Gopi, also voted early in the day.

The voting is taking place under strict security measures, with over 76,000 security personnel deployed. The election process is being monitored extensively using a webcasting system. Approximately 2.71 crore voters will determine the fate of 883 candidates contesting from the state's 140 assembly seats.

According to data from the Election Commission (EC), the voter demographic includes 1.32 crore men, 1.39 crore women, and 273 transgender individuals. Additionally, there are over 2.42 lakh expatriate voters. For this electoral process, the EC has deployed 1.42 lakh trained personnel.
