Kerala BJP President Anticipates Election Results Amidst Political Tensions

BJP's Stance on Election Results

On Monday, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the President of the BJP in Kerala, stated that the party will await the election results before making any formal comments. He expressed confidence that voters would reject the divisive and corrupt politics of the opposition. Speaking to a news outlet, Chandrasekhar emphasized that no political party can predict election outcomes in a democracy. He accused the CPM and Congress of arrogance, asserting that the BJP would wait for the results, expected by noon today, before issuing any statements. He reiterated the democratic principle that no party can determine the future of another.

Opposition Critique

Targeting opposition parties, he remarked, "This is typical arrogance from the CPM and Congress, who believe they can dictate what the public will do. This is entirely incorrect. We are in a democracy, not in China or Russia." The BJP leader expressed trust in the electorate of Kerala, stating that they would vote against corruption and divisive politics. He further asserted his belief that the divisive politics of the India-India alliance would be defeated, and that the parties involved in this alliance would face a setback due to their corruption, leading the public towards a corruption-free governance.

Current Election Trends

Meanwhile, the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala has gained a significant lead over the Left Democratic Front (LDF), with the UDF ahead in 52 seats, while the Congress, leading the coalition, is ahead in 49 seats. The LDF is currently leading in 21 seats, with the CPI(M) ahead in 41 seats. Initial trends from various constituencies in Malappuram district indicate a promising start for the UDF, although the LDF is providing tough competition in select areas. In Kondotty, UDF candidate T.P. Ashraf Ali is leading by 89 votes, while P.K. Basheer in Eranad is ahead by 41 votes, and Aryadan Shaukat in Nilambur is leading by 79 votes. A.P. Anil Kumar in Vandur is also ahead by 65 votes.
