Early Vote Counting Results

Thiruvananthapuram: The first two hours of vote counting from the Kerala Assembly elections held on April 9 revealed a significant lead for the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), suggesting they may secure power in the state.

Reports indicate that the UDF is currently leading in more than 90 constituencies, while the Left Democratic Front (LDF), led by CPI(M), is ahead in fewer than 50 seats. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), headed by the BJP, is reportedly leading in approximately 5 seats.

According to the Election Commission's data, the Congress party is leading in 50 seats, followed by CPI(M) with 31, IUML with 17, CPI with 13, and Kerala Congress (M) with 4. The BJP, Kerala Congress (KEC), and Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) are each leading in 3 seats.

These trends bolster the UDF's assertion of achieving a substantial majority.

Sunny Joseph, the chief of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), remarked that these results reflect a pro-UDF sentiment in the state and expressed optimism that the UDF would surpass the 100-seat threshold.
