Kejriwal Blames Trump for Deaths of Indians in Gulf Countries
Kejriwal's Accusations Against Trump
Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, has held U.S. President Donald Trump accountable for the deaths of three Indians in Gulf nations, labeling him a coward and a ruthless killer. In a post on X, Kejriwal stated that Trump would be made responsible for these fatalities. He criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence regarding a U.S. attack on a commercial vessel that resulted in casualties.
Criticism of Modi's Silence
Kejriwal expressed disappointment over Modi's lack of response, asserting that soon India would have a strong Prime Minister who would hold accountable those responsible for such actions. In a video accompanying his post, he mentioned that the U.S. had attacked commercial ships carrying Indian citizens on three separate occasions, with a total of 68 Indians on board. Despite this, Modi remained silent, which Kejriwal found troubling, especially after Trump congratulated Modi for being the longest-serving Prime Minister.
Condemnation of U.S. Actions
During a conversation with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, Kejriwal condemned U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio's response. He noted that while Jaishankar spoke with Rubio, the U.S. issued threats to India without expressing any remorse for the deaths of the three Indians. Instead, they threatened India's foreign minister, warning of consequences if U.S. directives were not followed.
Public Outrage and Political Reactions
Kejriwal highlighted public anger over the U.S. actions and the government's response, questioning Modi's silence while countries like Russia and China vocally condemned similar incidents involving their citizens. The Indian National Congress also criticized the government's reaction, with party president Mallikarjun Kharge denouncing Modi's silence and stating that silence is not an option for accountability. In a post on X, Kharge accused the Modi government of undermining India's global reputation and sovereignty, claiming that national interests are being consistently compromised.
