Kejriwal's Allegations Against the Central Government

On Saturday, Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, accused the BJP-led central government of misusing agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to target opposition leaders and coerce them into joining the BJP. Speaking to the media, Kejriwal highlighted that the ED has been conducting raids at the residence of Punjab Minister Sanjeev Arora since early morning.

Kejriwal stated that since the Modi government came to power, the CBI and ED have shifted their focus from combating corruption and money laundering to breaking apart other political parties and intimidating leaders into joining the BJP.

Details of the ED Raids

Kejriwal further asserted that the ED's raids are part of a broader strategy. On Saturday, the Enforcement Directorate conducted searches at five locations linked to Punjab Minister Sanjeev Arora in Delhi, Gurugram, and Chandigarh. This operation is related to an ongoing investigation into an alleged money laundering case involving ₹100 crores under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002. Earlier that day, Kejriwal claimed that the central government's actions have led to the oppression of Punjabis, asserting that these ED raids are politically motivated and aimed at exerting pressure rather than uncovering wrongdoing.

Kejriwal's Critique of Modi's Governance

In a post on social media, Kejriwal noted that immediately after the Bengal elections, Modi initiated daily ED raids in Punjab. He accused Modi of causing significant harm to Punjab over the past few years, stating that Punjabis have faced persecution in various forms. He mentioned attacks on Punjab's water resources, attempts to seize Punjab University, and the withholding of funds for rural development, alongside the ongoing ED raids.

Kejriwal pointed out that Ashok Mittal's residence was raided, and he joined the BJP the very next day, suggesting that the purpose of the ED's actions was not to recover stolen money but to force Mittal into the BJP. He also referenced a recent raid at Sanjeev Arora's home, which occurred after Arora refused to join the BJP.
