Kashi Rudras Secure First Win of Season 4

In a thrilling encounter at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana International Cricket Stadium, the defending champions Kashi Rudras achieved their first victory of the UP T20 League Season 4, defeating the Kanpur Superstars by eight wickets. The match, held on Sunday afternoon, saw a remarkable partnership of 135 runs between opener Abhishek Goswami and captain Karan Sharma, enabling the Rudras to chase down a target of 164 runs in just 18.1 overs, marking the highest successful chase of the season so far.

Coin Toss Conducted by Esteemed Guest

Prior to the match, the coin toss was officiated by Dr. Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj, a distinguished IAS officer from the 2007 batch and the current Secretary of the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare for Uttar Pradesh. Dr. Suhas, a celebrated para-badminton champion and recipient of the 2021 Arjuna Award, was honored with a commemorative memento by UP T20 League Chairman Sanjay Kapoor and Governing Council Member Shri Sanjeev Kumar Singh.

Kanpur Superstars Set a Challenging Target

Choosing to field first, Kashi Rudras captain Karan Sharma witnessed the Kanpur Superstars post a strong total of 163 runs for 4 wickets in their 20 overs, the highest team score of the season. The innings was highlighted by an impressive unbeaten performance from captain Sameer Rizvi, who scored 71 runs off 47 balls, featuring eight boundaries and two sixes, while receiving vital support from his teammates.

Rudras' Chase and Key Partnerships

In pursuit of 164 runs, the Kashi Rudras faced an early challenge when opener Uvaish Ahmed was dismissed in the third over by seamer Vineet Panwar, thanks to a spectacular catch by Rizvi.

Reflecting on his performance, Player of the Match Abhishek Goswami stated, "I focus on one ball at a time; I don't go in with a set plan. It comes with the flow of the game. Karan and I have played together since childhood, so our communication is excellent. Initially, it was tough to bat, but once set, it became comfortable to score."

After Sharma's dismissal, wicketkeeper Upendra Yadav sealed the victory with an unbeaten 18 runs off just seven balls, leading the Kashi Rudras to a comfortable win.

This victory marks the Rudras' first points of Season 4, while the Kanpur Superstars are left seeking solutions after their second consecutive loss.
