Karun Chandhok Discusses Lewis Hamilton's Transition to Ferrari and Upcoming F1 Season
Karun Chandhok on Hamilton and New F1 Rules
Karun Chandhok, a former Indian Formula 1 driver, has expressed his views on Lewis Hamilton as the seven-time world champion gears up for the 2026 Formula 1 season with Scuderia Ferrari. Hamilton's transition to Ferrari has been a major topic of discussion leading into the 2025 season. After spending 12 seasons with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, the British driver faced a tough year following his switch to the Italian team.
In a conversation with a news outlet, Chandhok noted that Hamilton appears to be more content and at ease with the new regulations in Formula 1. He emphasized that the new rules are still in the testing phase, and it's premature to draw any definitive conclusions.
"Lewis had a challenging season last year. This year, the car looks improved. He seems happier and more comfortable with the new regulations. However, we are still in the testing phase, and we only have limited information. Let's wait and see how the season unfolds," Chandhok remarked.
Hamilton's move to Ferrari is considered one of the most significant transfers in Formula 1 history. For Indian fans, many of whom have historically supported Ferrari, having a seven-time world champion in their ranks is likely to enhance emotional engagement and could increase viewership and brand interaction. Chandhok pointed out that the level of competitiveness will ultimately shape the impact of this transition.
Chandhok also anticipates a fiercely competitive championship, highlighting several teams expected to vie for victories. "Most importantly, we hope for an exciting season with various teams in contention. McLaren, Mercedes, and Red Bull Racing are all expected to be strong competitors. It should be a thrilling year," he added.
