Karthik Praises Krunal Pandya's Impact on Finger-Spin
Dinesh Karthik, the batting coach and mentor for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has commended all-rounder Krunal Pandya for his significant contributions to finger-spin bowling. Karthik believes that Pandya is redefining the craft and pushing its boundaries. RCB is set to face Delhi Capitals (DC) in their next Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match on Monday in Delhi, currently holding the second position on the points table with 10 points, aiming to solidify their standing as the tournament advances.
In anticipation of the match, Karthik highlighted Krunal Pandya's innovative techniques and growing expertise in finger-spin bowling. He noted that Pandya's ability to instill uncertainty in batters and consistently deliver results showcases his development as an all-rounder. Karthik stated, "Krunal Pandya is a player who will be remembered in this game for years to come. He is pushing the limits of finger-spin and executing deliveries that were unimaginable a few years back. His mastery is evident as he knows precisely when to use his variations to create doubt in the batter's mind, often leading to successful outcomes. Much credit goes to him for his evolution as an all-rounder. The IPL is transforming cricket, and Krunal is doing the same for finger-spin bowling."
Krunal has been a valuable asset for RCB this IPL season, having taken eight wickets in seven matches and contributing a vital 12-ball 23-run unbeaten performance in RCB's last game against the Gujarat Titans.
Phil Salt to Miss Upcoming Match
Karthik also provided an update regarding opener Phil Salt, who was absent from the match against the Gujarat Titans due to an injury. He confirmed that Salt is still in recovery and will not participate in the upcoming game against DC in Delhi. "He's injured at the moment," Karthik mentioned.
Karthik Commends Patidar's Leadership
Dinesh Karthik expressed admiration for RCB captain Rajat Patidar, praising his composed and thoughtful leadership style. He noted Patidar's impressive batting performance, strong respect among teammates, and effective management of bowlers. So far, Patidar has accumulated 238 runs in seven innings with a strike rate of 210.61. Karthik remarked, "Rajat Patidar is consistently raising his standards. He remains calm and thoughtful, which is evident in his batting. He commands respect in the team and manages his bowlers effectively. Under pressure, he maintains composure and makes sound decisions."
