Karnataka's CM Siddaramaiah Resigns: Who Will Take the Helm Next?
Siddaramaiah Steps Down as Chief Minister
Bengaluru: On Thursday, Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah officially resigned, presenting his resignation to the Governor's Special Secretary at Lok Bhavan.
The resignation was received by Special Secretary Prabhu Shankar, as Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot was unavailable, being in his hometown of Indore for personal matters.
Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and other cabinet members, Siddaramaiah made the announcement.
"I have accepted the resignation, but it will be formally approved by the Governor," Prabhu Shankar stated.
Earlier that morning, during a breakfast gathering at his residence, Siddaramaiah informed his cabinet colleagues of his decision to resign, indicating that Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar would succeed him, following directives from the Congress leadership.
A photo shared by the Chief Minister's Office captured a heartfelt moment where Siddaramaiah embraced a visibly emotional Shivakumar. Another image showed Shivakumar seeking Siddaramaiah's blessings by touching his feet.
