Karnataka Woman and Lover Arrested for Husband's Murder
Shocking Murder in Tumakuru District
In a disturbing incident, a woman and her lover are accused of murdering her husband in the Tumakuru district of Karnataka. The crime occurred on June 24 in Kadashettihalli village, where the victim, 50-year-old Shankaramurthy, was living alone in a farmhouse. Following the murder, the couple disposed of the body approximately 30 kilometers away to conceal their actions.
Details of the Crime
The woman, identified as Sumangala, worked as a cook at a local girls' hostel and was reportedly involved in an extramarital affair with Nagarju, a resident of a nearby village. Fearing that Shankaramurthy might interfere in their relationship, they plotted to kill him. On the day of the incident, Sumangala allegedly blinded her husband with chilli powder and struck him with a club. Reports indicate that she also pressed her foot against his neck to suffocate him. Afterward, they placed his body in a gunny sack and discarded it in a well in Turuvekere taluk.
Investigation Unfolds
The case emerged when Shankaramurthy was reported missing, prompting an investigation by the Nonavinakere police. Upon filing the complaint, authorities discovered chilli powder stains and signs of a struggle on the victim's bedding. This evidence led to the interrogation of Sumangala, whose call records were also scrutinized. Eventually, she confessed to the crime, and a case was registered at the police station. The investigation into the murder continues.
Similar Incidents in the Region
This incident follows a similar case in Telangana, where a 23-year-old woman was arrested for killing her husband shortly after their wedding, along with her lover and several accomplices. In another case from Meghalaya, a couple went missing during their honeymoon, and the husband was later found dead, with his wife surrendering to the police after the murder was uncovered.
