Court Ruling on Road Rage Case

On Thursday, the Karnataka High Court instructed law enforcement not to take any punitive measures against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anantkumar Hegde until July 30 in connection with a road rage incident.

The alleged altercation took place on Monday while Hegde, accompanied by his gunman and driver, was en route to Bengaluru from Tumakuru.

Reports indicate that they were involved in an assault on a businessman named Saif Khan, who was traveling with his family. This occurred after Khan's vehicle did not yield to Hegde's car, despite repeated honking from the driver.

Khan reportedly sustained injuries and lost a tooth during the confrontation. In his complaint, he accused Hegde of inciting the violence.

A case has been filed against Hegde and his associates under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Justice SR Krishna Kumar issued the interim order following a petition from Hegde aimed at dismissing the first information report against him. The court also permitted the police to continue their investigation and instructed Hegde to assist in the inquiry.
