Karnataka Health Minister Criticizes Controversial Remarks Against Rahul Gandhi
Health Minister's Strong Rebuttal
UT Khader, the Health Minister of Karnataka, has sharply criticized the controversial remarks made by BJP MLA Yashpal Suvarna against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a recent session in the Lok Sabha. Khader stated that the Udupi MLA lacks the credibility to comment on the Congress leader.
Speaking at a press conference, Khader emphasized that such derogatory statements do not reflect the rich cultural and political heritage of coastal Karnataka.
He described the incident as a 'black mark' on the democratic discourse in the region. Khader remarked, 'It is unacceptable to make offensive comments against a senior leader who has made significant contributions to this country. Elected representatives must uphold dignity and democratic values in their statements.' Notably, the controversy arose following comments allegedly made by Suvarna during a protest organized by the BJP in Udupi on Tuesday.
Suvarna had targeted Rahul Gandhi over political issues. Khader pointed out that there has traditionally been a culture of mutual respect among all parties during political discussions in coastal Karnataka. He stressed that such personal attacks undermine public trust in elected officials.
He reiterated that political disagreements should be raised respectfully, without resorting to personal remarks.
