Karnataka District Closes Schools Amid Heavy Rain Forecast
School Closures in Mangaluru Due to Rain Warnings
In response to forecasts of heavy rainfall, the district administration of South Canara in Karnataka has declared a holiday for educational institutions across various areas on Tuesday. According to an order issued by the District Disaster Management Authority, all Anganwadi centers, as well as government, aided, and private primary and high schools (up to class 10) in the Mangaluru sub-district will remain closed. This directive applies to educational institutions in Mangaluru, Bantwal, Moodbidri, Mulki, and Ullal taluks.
Furthermore, the order specifies that all Anganwadi centers, government, aided, and private primary and high schools, pre-university colleges, ITIs, and diploma colleges up to class 12 in Puttur, Belthangady, Sulya, and Kadaba taluks will also be closed. The district administration has urged parents to prevent their children from venturing into flood-prone areas, near rivers, and along the coastline. Additionally, fishermen have been advised against going out to sea due to the adverse weather conditions.
