Shivakumar Expresses Surprise Over Police Notice

On Saturday, DK Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, expressed his astonishment regarding the notice issued by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police concerning the National Herald case. He remarked that this situation was unexpected, especially since he had already provided all necessary details to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and had received a notice from them as well.

Shivakumar further stated that after the ED filed the chargesheet, there should have been no need for the police to register a separate case. He emphasized his intention to challenge this matter in court.

Shivakumar's Response to Media

Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar described the situation as highly shocking. He reiterated that he had shared all relevant information with the ED, which had also summoned both him and his brother. He insisted that everything was transparent and that there was nothing amiss with their organization, which has the support of Congress members. He questioned why the police felt the need to take action after the ED's charges were filed, asserting that they would pursue the matter legally.

Additionally, Shivakumar accused the investigation into the National Herald case of being a form of harassment, claiming that there was an attempt to create confusion aimed at targeting Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and their supporters. He stated, "This is our money. We can give it to anyone after paying taxes. There is nothing wrong here. The case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) has already been resolved."
