Political Speculations Surround Meeting in Bengaluru

On Thursday, D.K. Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, visited the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in Bengaluru. This meeting has sparked speculation regarding its connection to the ongoing power struggle for the Chief Minister position within the state. As the Congress government reaches the halfway mark of its five-year term, rumors of a potential change in leadership have intensified among party members.

However, addressing the media after the meeting, Shivakumar dismissed these speculations, stating that no political discussions took place. He mentioned that he only shared his views regarding a law passed by the central government, which replaces the MGNREGA scheme, ahead of the Congress Working Committee meeting scheduled for December 27.

Shivakumar clarified that he did not discuss any other matters with Kharge, asserting that there was no need for such discussions at this time. He emphasized his commitment to working in accordance with the decisions of the party's high command, alongside Siddaramaiah. When asked about his statement regarding remaining a party worker, Shivakumar explained that he intends to be a lifelong member of the party and serve the organization, regardless of his position or status.

He stated, "I am a lifelong worker of the party. No matter my position, I am a party worker. I have represented the party both as a worker and as a president. I have put up party posters and engaged in cleaning activities. I have done everything for the Congress party. I did not come just to sit on the stage and give speeches; I have worked hard for the party."
