Karnataka Deputy CM Calls for Unity Amid Speculations on Chief Ministerial Race

Unity in the Party Emphasized by Deputy CM
On Friday, D.K. Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, urged party members to collaborate effectively, following the guidance and messages from Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. However, he refrained from commenting on his potential candidacy for the Chief Minister position.
After offering prayers at the Chamundi Hills to Goddess Chamundeshwari, Shivakumar stated, "Efforts may fail, but prayers will not." Recently, there have been speculations in political circles, particularly within the ruling Congress party, regarding a possible change in the Chief Minister's position by the end of this year.
These speculations reference a power-sharing agreement between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar. When asked if he had stepped back from the Chief Ministerial race in light of Siddaramaiah's statement about completing a full five-year term, Shivakumar replied, "I do not wish to discuss this. I am not here to talk about politics. My focus is on the welfare of the state. Mallikarjun Kharge is the Congress President, and he has given us messages and advice. Following his words, let us all work together."
Shivakumar also mentioned to reporters that he prayed to Goddess Chamundeshwari for the welfare of the state, his family, and everyone. When questioned if it was time to receive blessings in return for his prayers, he affirmed, "Efforts may fail, but prayers will not; I believe in this. I have prayed to the Goddess and wished for everything I desire."
