Leadership Changes in Karnataka Congress

In light of ongoing speculations regarding leadership changes and cabinet reshuffles in Karnataka, senior Congress figure M. Veerappa Moily emphasized on Tuesday that all party members must adhere to the decisions made by the Congress High Command. Moily stated that after discussions with senior leaders from the state in New Delhi, the party leadership will make a final call on the matter. He remarked that the time for opinions has passed, asserting that the party operates democratically and all members should respect its decisions. He assured that all relevant information would be presented to the High Command, which would make the appropriate choices.

Senate Elections and Contributions

Regarding the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, the former Chief Minister of Karnataka expressed his desire to contribute to the party through the upper house. He clarified, "I have already made my intentions clear. I will not contest in the Lok Sabha elections. I believe I can contribute more to the party and the nation as a Rajya Sabha member." These comments emerged during a meeting at the Congress headquarters, Indira Bhavan, in New Delhi, which included Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar alongside the party's high command. Prominent leaders such as Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala, and Congress leader Sachin Pilot were also present.

Dismissal of Leadership Change Rumors

Meanwhile, Congress MLA B.K. Hariprasad dismissed rumors of a potential leadership change in Karnataka, accusing the BJP of spreading misinformation through its "troll army." Hariprasad stated, "Siddaramaiah was elected for a five-year term. If there are allegations of corruption or serious issues, we will need to reconsider. There is no need to respond to the BJP's troll army."

Discussion on Key Issues

Congress MLC Saleem Ahmed mentioned that discussions with the High Command would cover topics such as the Rajya Sabha elections, MLC selection, and cabinet expansion, but he refrained from commenting on leadership speculations. Senior Congress legislator T.B. Jayachandra described the meeting as highly significant, indicating that its outcomes would clarify the ongoing speculations regarding Karnataka's leadership.
