Karnataka Congress Leader Suggests Nitin Gadkari as Modi's Successor

Political Speculation Surrounds Nitin Gadkari's Future

Senior Congress legislator from Karnataka, Belur Gopalakrishna, has sparked political discussions by labeling Union Minister Nitin Gadkari as a suitable successor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This remark came during an event in Nagpur, responding to comments made by an RSS leader regarding the principle of retiring from power after 75 years, attributed to RSS thinker Moropant Pingale. Although no specific individual was named by the RSS chief, the statement has reignited debates about the BJP's internal succession plans.

Gopalakrishna's Endorsement of Gadkari

Gopalakrishna expressed to reporters that Nitin Gadkari should be the next Prime Minister of the country. He emphasized Gadkari's connection with the common man and highlighted his significant contributions to national development, particularly in highway infrastructure. According to Gopalakrishna, the citizens recognize Gadkari's services and values. He also referenced a recent speech by Gadkari, in which the minister voiced concerns about the widening economic gap in the country, noting that the rich are becoming richer while the poor struggle to survive.

Call for Inclusive Leadership

Gopalakrishna further stated that Gadkari possesses a profound vision for inclusive development and deserves an opportunity to lead. He argued that if the RSS believes in retiring leaders after 75 years, then it is time for change, and Gadkari meets this criterion. Criticizing the BJP, the Congress legislator accused the party of applying double standards regarding age limits in leadership. He cited the example of former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, who was reportedly pressured to resign upon reaching the age of 75, a move many believe was influenced by central leadership.
