Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah to Visit Delhi Only on Party Invitation
Siddaramaiah's Planned Visit to Delhi
On Wednesday, Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that he would travel to the national capital to meet with senior Congress leaders only if summoned by the party's high command. He mentioned regarding D.K. Shivakumar, 'Let him go. I will only go when I receive an invitation. So far, I have not received any call.'
In the meantime, Karnataka Minister Satish Jarkiholi fueled speculation about a power struggle, suggesting that resolving the issue could take thirty months or even three years. He remarked to reporters in Mangaluru, 'I mentioned that it could take thirty months or three years.'
Internal Party Dynamics
This situation unfolded as senior Congress leader K.C. Venugopal arrived at Mangaluru Airport, where party workers expressed conflicting slogans in support of both Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah, highlighting the internal discord within the party. Karnataka's Home Minister G. Parameshwara stated that he did not wish to comment further on recent political disagreements, asserting that any minor issues had been resolved.
Speaking to journalists, Parameshwara said, 'I do not want to make unnecessary comments. Everything is settled now. Any minor differences that existed have been addressed.' Following D.K. Shivakumar's departure to Delhi on Wednesday afternoon, speculation intensified in political circles. Although Shivakumar claimed he was attending a private wedding, it is likely he will meet with top Congress leaders to discuss ongoing political developments in Karnataka.
Upcoming Political Engagements
In discussions with reporters, Shivakumar indicated that after attending brief meetings and the wedding, he would return to Bengaluru for a cabinet meeting. He also mentioned that Karnataka Congress leaders would participate in a rally against 'vote theft' scheduled for December 14 at Ram Leela Maidan in Delhi. Previously, he had engaged in significant discussions with senior party leaders like K.C. Venugopal and Mallikarjun Kharge at the airport, suggesting that this visit is also linked to the state's political landscape.
