Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Predicts Breaking of Devaraj Urs' Political Record

Siddaramaiah's Ambitious Outlook

On Monday, Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed confidence that the political record set by former Chief Minister Devaraj Urs would soon be surpassed, attributing this potential change to the blessings of the public. Speaking to reporters in Mysuru, he emphasized that political records are meant to be broken over time.

Siddaramaiah noted that both he and Urs hail from Mysuru district, reinforcing his connection to the region. He remarked that his circumstances are different from those of Urs, who governed during a different political era. Reflecting on the 1983 assembly elections, he recalled how the public supported him with both votes and financial contributions, contrasting it with the political landscape during Urs' tenure.

He stated, "Records are meant to be broken. In the future, someone may serve as Chief Minister longer than I have and present more budgets than I do." He drew a parallel with cricket, mentioning how Virat Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar's records.

During a proposed equipment conference, Siddaramaiah mentioned that no final decision had been made yet, but Krishna Bhairagouda indicated that they would organize the event. Regarding potential cabinet reshuffles, he stated that he would discuss the matter with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who plans to call him in January.

On the Ballari issue, Siddaramaiah responded to the BJP's call for an investigation by a sitting judge, stating that the police are currently looking into the matter. He urged to wait for the report before determining the need for further investigation. Addressing criticism regarding the VBG Ram guarantee, he explained that a 40% share of the ₹3,000 crore would burden the state government.
