Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah May Resign Post-Budget Session, Claims BJP Legislator
Political Turmoil in Karnataka
On Thursday, BJP legislator Arvind Bellad suggested that Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah might resign following the budget session, with Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar potentially stepping into the role of the new chief minister. Speaking to reporters, Bellad harshly criticized the Congress government, asserting that there have been no appointments of government employees in the last three years. He pointed out that even the appointments approved by the finance department have not been executed.
Concerns Over Employment and Corruption
Bellad emphasized that the lack of job appointments has become a significant issue in Karnataka. He noted that the Congress government has not reported any new job vacancies and has failed to fill previously announced positions that had already received financial approval. Addressing the Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) scandals, he accused the Congress of neglecting these critical issues.
Allegations of Corruption in KPSC
He further highlighted a major corruption scandal involving the KPSC, mentioning that discussions regarding the question paper scandal and other related issues have already taken place in the assembly. At that time, the government and the chief minister assured that they would address these concerns, yet no action has been taken to date. Bellad stressed that the state is not progressing, noting that Karnataka has dropped from second to fourth place in terms of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).
Economic Challenges in Karnataka
When discussing job creation in the private sector, he remarked that the state’s economy should be thriving and development should be evident. However, the decline in GSDP ranking indicates that new industries are not emerging in the state, and existing industries are not experiencing growth.
