Warning from the Chief Minister

On June 26, Karnataka's Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar cautioned officials from the excise department against engaging in activities that could tarnish the government's reputation. During a review meeting at Vidhana Soudha, he indicated that legal measures could be taken to transfer officials to other departments if necessary. He emphasized that working with integrity enhances the government's respect, while actions that damage its reputation will not be overlooked.

Strict Measures and Expectations

Shivakumar made it clear that the transfer of excise department employees to other departments is a possibility. He instructed officials to work with utmost caution and reiterated that any behavior leading to the government's disrepute would be intolerable. He also noted that since the implementation of the AIB system in the department, there has been significant progress. Furthermore, he announced the decision to put 574 new licenses up for e-auction and proposed allowing the renewal fees to be paid in two installments.

Focus on Achieving Goals

The Chief Minister mentioned that he has reviewed reports from excise departments in neighboring states and urged officials to meet the department's set targets. He observed how these departments operate and stressed the importance of maintaining the department's dignity, which in turn reflects on the government's respect. He called for a professional attitude to enhance the government's standing, warning that failure to do so may lead to strict actions.
