Karnataka CM Directs Ministers to Assess Flood and Drought Conditions

Bengaluru, August 3 - On Monday, Karnataka's Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar announced that he has instructed his cabinet members to visit their designated districts to evaluate the conditions of flooding and drought. They are also required to report their findings to the Revenue Minister to advance relief measures. Speaking to reporters after a cabinet meeting at Vidhana Soudha, Shivakumar emphasized that following the expansion of his cabinet, ministers are also tasked with inspecting affected areas alongside elected representatives from various political parties.

He stated, “During the cabinet meeting, we discussed the challenges we face, including the drought situation and the water scarcity in the Cauvery river basin.” Recent rainfall has provided temporary relief; however, the threat of drought has not been completely alleviated.

Heavy rainfall has caused damage in parts of Shivamogga and Tirthahalli, prompting officials to submit reports to facilitate relief efforts.
