Confidence in Indian Golfers
Kapil Dev, the former captain of the Indian cricket team and a renowned all-rounder, has expressed his strong belief in the capabilities of Indian golfers as they prepare for the upcoming Asian Games. He emphasized that their talent is undeniable and that a single outstanding week could significantly enhance India's chances of winning medals at the event. The 2026 Asian Games are set to take place from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya, Japan.
Importance of a Strong Mindset
"The issue has never been about talent. What they require is one exceptional week and a robust mindset. If they can consolidate their efforts during that time, they have the potential to elevate the medal count and secure several medals," Kapil Dev stated.
PGTI's Contribution to Golf Development
Kapil Dev also acknowledged the role of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) in fostering young golfing talent. He noted that the PGTI provides aspiring golfers with the chance to compete, gain international experience, and chase their Olympic aspirations. "The DP World PGTI is crucial for young golfers, offering them platforms to develop and shine on the international stage, which is a significant advantage for both the athletes and Indian sports overall," he remarked.
